Studio Ateme is founded by Camilla Mørch and based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This creative, explorative studio is founded on a belief that we thrive on surrounding ourselves with objects that add calm, presence, a kind of softness and of course beauty to our lives.

I’ve been working as a fashion designer for many years, and Studio Ateme came to life in a pursuit of creation in a more intuitive pace, to explore a different approach to products and creativity.

SOFT OBJECTS

Through my background, I’m deeply passionate about fabric and shape. Fabric has become my natural creative language and it’s magic to me, how it can transform, how different materials can give new life, character and emotion to a garment or object. And I love the soft, tactile presence it can have in a room.

Quilt is a natural extension to this world of fabrics. In my past and present work it’s a constant marvel to me how the soft, organic shapes unveil in the stitch process. How beautiful shapes appear and become alive and present.

A key reference in my work is architecture, with the fascinating vast spaces and minimalist frames it offers our daily lives. The Ateme objects are created on a belief that we need a soft or delicate counterpoint to this. They absorb noise, they invite touch, exploration and smiles.

MATERIALS

Coming from the fashion industry, I’m naturally focused on limiting my imprint on nature and our environment. Materials are as far as possible sourced from deadstock, vintage, and end of rolls. If I’m using new materials, I strive to source recycled or certified materials. It is an ongoing process, I’m always curious and would love any leads on ways to use materials that already exist.

INSPIRATION

The Ateme objects emerge from the world around and in me. The pieces started as soft interpretations of classic reliefs and have taken on a life of their own. They hold stories and emotions for their owner to explore and imagine, inviting them to add their own meaning.

I hope and believe that the soft objects can add warmth, tactile presence and a quiet sense of thrill to your space and life as well.
